How do starfish dance? What would my favourite stuffed toy look like in XXL size? Whom will I invite to the world premiere of my first ever composition performed on a musical instrument built specifically for the occasion? The Kannersummer is a true summer highlight for the kids!
COOPERATIONS has been involved in the organization of the Kannersummer for many years; today the project is organized in a collaborative effort by Kannerhaus Wooltz, COOPERATIONS, Kannerbureau Wiltz, Jugendhaus Wooltz, Centre Oasis, CONEX and the Wiltz Maison Relais, on behalf of the municipality of Wiltz. The diversity of the organization board is reflected in the diversity of the programme. COOPERATIONS specializes in workshops held by art educators and artists from Luxembourg and abroad, to motivate the kids to explore their own creativity, let their fantasies run free, and experience comradeship and adventures together with old and new friends.
The kids are invited to enjoy a relaxing creative summer holiday high up above the town, in the midst of the meadows of the Jardin de Wiltz. Besides working with paintbrush and glue, even four-year-olds may grab a hammer and nails to help build a huge musical instrument made out of ropes, metal and wood; later on, a musician will show them how to play it. Or they dress up as marine fauna and try to time their movements to the rhythm of the waves. In another workshop you may find the kids transforming a shipping container into a magical cave with the help of art installations and illuminated dripstones, or building models of their favourite toys or self-portraits in XXL format from willow branches and papier-mâché.
Huge fun for kids! The first Kannersummer Wooltz on the Gruberbeerig was realized as early as 1988.
